The Fall 2004 season, along with two tournament trips and the Spring 2005 season will be completely sponsored by WebSkillz LLC's many corporate partnerships and relationships.  The transition team currently has plans to break into two teams (Lou Gehrig League and Roy Campanella AAA) for the Fall.  Jim Doell will be field manager for the Lou Gehrig team and a search for the manager of the RC-AAA Fall team is currently underway.

The Spring 2005 season will commence somewhere around the third week of December with workouts occurring at the Professional Baseball Institute in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

More details will be announced in this space when they become available.

Heading into their final regular season finale against the Palisades Park Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, at Dwight Morrow High School (DMHS), the Marauders hold a 10-9 record and also hold second place in the NJ-MABL A League / National Division standings, just two games behind the division champion Essex Tigers.

On Sunday, Aug. 8, the Marauders winning streak came to an end with a loss to the Ridgefield Park Red Dogs, 11-10, on a run in the bottom of the ninth.

Break up the Maroon Raiders!!!  We're *SO* proud of Dwight Morrow High School's varsity baseball program (our co-tenants at Dwight Morrow Baseball Field) for what they accomplished on Monday, April 3rd, that we re-printed the following article from the Bergen Record:

Englewood (DMHS) puts an end to long skid

Tuesday, April 4, 2000 - as appeared in the Bergen Record

HACKENSACK - Englewood's baseball team began the 21st century by doing something it had not done in the last several years of the 20th century: win.

The Maroon Raiders registered their first victory in four years and snapped a 62-game losing streak Monday with a season-opening 8-4 independent victory over host Bergen Tech.

"The reaction was more like being cool and stunned," said second-year coach Carmine Battista (of the NJ-MABL's fall league Butler Bears), whose team was 0-20 last season. "They are happy that they won, but they are expecting to do more of it."

Englewood should enjoy more wins this season with Jeff DeVilliers on the mound. The junior right-hander tossed a complete-game four-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

"He was tremendous," Battista said of DeVilliers. "He was unhittable, and very few kids put a bat on the ball. Two of their four hits went off his glove. He has command of every pitch and hit every spot and threw 98 pitches."

The Maroon Raiders had six hits and opened a 6-1 lead in the third on a two-run triple by Ainsworth Minott, known more for being the quarterback on the school's more successful football team.

Said Battista: "It feels good to win one. We've already made a great stride. We had one kid, Jahvia Griffin, who took dirt from behind home plate and took it home with him."
