Mob splits pair of games with Yellow Jackets;
Team heads into Easter holiday break with 3-1 record

The Englewood Marauders head into the Easter holiday break with a 3-1 record after splitting a pair of games against the New Milford Yellow Jackets on Sunday.
In game 1, The Mob started rookie Connor Boodaghian on the hill for his first 'official' action on the hill for the season. Booodaghian was spotty at times, often working himself into deep counts while walking seven batters over 2 2/3 innings.
After Steve Ponzio knotted the game at 1-1 with an RBI double in the top of the third inning, the Yellow Jackets would take advantage of three walks later in the frame and take a lead they'd never relinquish on an RBI groundout by Damian Mauro, a three-run triple by Erik Lang, and an RBI single by Adam Tarabokija off of reliever Mark Bacco.
Jackets starter Erick Golomb was solid on the bump, allowing one earned run, four hits and no walks while striking out five in a complete game victory.
In game 2, the story of the game was venerable ace Javy Vega. For 6 1/3 innings, Vega was masterful, throwing strikes on 47 of his 78 pitches, collecting four strike outs and walking only one batter while scattering seven hits.
The Mob jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Newcomer Shaun Wayne singled to ignite Englewood Marauders' offense. After a Carmine Battista sacrifice bunt, Rich Aleman then doubled to left field, plating Wayne. Dave Jiminian would come up and score Aleman on an RBI single to center, giving Vega a 2-0 lead early.
The Yellow Jackets would get a run back in the top of the second, where the score would remain 2-1 until the bottom of the 5th inning. After two were out in the inning, E.J. Flores singled to center and stole second base. Miguel Checo beat out a soft roller to shortstop, advancing Flores to third. After Jackets starter Adrian Polanco got Mob centerfielder Will Perez in an 0-2 hole, he inexplicably hit him with a pitch, loading the bases for Mark Bacco. Bacco would then hit a soft dribbler on a 3-2 pitch up the third base line that would stop and remain fair halfway up the line, plating Flores with an all important insurance run.
That run would prove important as the Jackets would mount a furious rally with one out in the top of the seventh inning. Damian Mauro drew the first walk of the game from Vega, followed by two singles by Jake Huff and Phil Mistrette.
Manager MiAngelo Moore went to the bullpen and brought in Dave Jiminian for the save opportunity after Vega allowed a single to Erik Lang to bring the lead down to 4-2. After allowing a RBI line drive single to left by Ricky Rex that cut the lead to 4-3, Jiminian struck out the next two batters on a dizzying array of sliders and fastballs, ending the game with the Yellow Jackets leaving the bases loaded for the save.
Miguel Checo, Shaun Wayne, Carmine Battista, Jiminian, E.J. Flores, and Rich Aleman all collected hits for the Marauders. Checo led the team with two hits.
Next up for The Mob - after the Easter holiday break, the team will travel down to Scotch Plains, NJ to take on the defending champion Somerville Giants in a 12:30 PM doubleheader at Union Catholic H.S. The team expects to unveil their new jerseys and color scheme from Uniforms Express for this game.

New GameChanger web and mobile scorekeeping technology lets fans follow real-time game action
April 3, 2011
The Englewood Marauders announced today that live play-by-plays and stats for every game this season will be made available online through a new technology called GameChanger. Now fans, local media and other team followers can follow the team's online 'GameStream,' even when they can't be at the field.
Too good to be true? Here's how it works: The Marauder scorekeepers use the GameChanger iPhone/iPod touch application to physically score each game. Every play and update recorded by the scorekeeper on the iPhone app - yes, every hit, run and strike - will be instantly posted online where registered fans can follow the action. Dozens of post-game statistics are also automatically compiled for every player.
"Live online game feeds have always been reserved for the big leagues - until now," said Ted Sullivan, co-founder of the GameChanger technology. "The ability to now 'watch' a local youth game while you're at work or in a business meeting is absolutely priceless - just ask any working parent with a kid on the field. We're excited that the Englewood Marauders are bringing GameChanger to their community fans."
Marauder fans can sign up to follow the action here: http://www.gamechanger.io/team-86978
